Well its time for an upgrade (again), If you are interested in getting into the Ultra Mobile PC World let me know and you can demo some demo models. PRICEDROP on the HTC Shift…. Yes its nearly arrived in Australia and boy is there a lot of interest. 2 Processors in a UMPC…wow.
Firstly its a beautiful little Ultra Mobile with a whole range of possibilities and secondly it hasn’t left my side for a week. It is not as fast as the Q1U but it dosen’t matter as its mainly used for email, browsing and note taking. The screen is great, the battery life is outstanding and the versitility is second to none. Downsides? well its only 400 and something grams but it may be a little heavy for long periods of one handed use. The price is great too.
Want to record TV and watch all your media on a rock solid device like the 360? XP MCE or Vista MCE is a great peace of software but for around $2000 for a capable system its best run on your main pc (with a modern cpu and ram) with the 360 outputing to your display over the network. With the ICETV electronic program guide taking care of recorded tv the extender capabilities have now matured so you can display divx, xvid and most other formats… oh and the 360 can play some pretty cool games.
I am over watching short and wide people on an incorrectly formatted widescreen tv. Why do installers and people who should know better stretch an image to fit widescreen when the source is 4:3 ratio? The worst example I have seen is the monstrous new 16:9 projection screen at Star City Casino in Sydney. I was watching short fat NRL players run around on this 10 metre widescreen and they looked awful. Everything should be source derived - just how it was produced.
